Resin Transfer Molding (RTM)
Over the last 11 years, we have evolved to RTM being used in over 50% the products we manufacture.
Tight tolerances, lightweight, damage tolerant, void free surface that can go directly from the mold to paint without all of the sanding and filling normally associated with Class A surface finishes. This has been key to repatriating several projects because much of the touch labor associated with prepreg molded structures goes away.
For thin walled, hollow structures such as baseball bats, hockey and lacrosse shafts, and antennae, this process is very cost effective compared to prepreg fabrication. Significant labor savings are seen in lay-up, molding, and finishing, resulting in a very high performance product that is cost competitive with products manufactured offshore. Rapid cycle times make this process easily scalable to mass production.
